Cenek Vrba
This years' Teen Event is proud to host Calgary’s celebrated violinist, Cenek Vrba.

Czech-born Cenek J. Vrba is one of the foremost Canadian violinists. Cenek has worked with such artists as Josef Gingold and Henryk Szeryng. Winning the CBC National Radio Competition launched his many solo recordings with CBC Radio and Television. He has recorded and toured with various orchestras in the United States, Japan, China and many European countries. His repertoire is truly comprehensive, including over 25 concerti, all well-known sonatas and many other compositions, including those written for him by Canadian and Japanese composers. Mr. Vrba will be releasing a new CD and will be touring Japan and Honolulu in 2005.

FRIDAY, APRIL 15th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm: Pizza and games night to get together and hang out at the Komar Residence, 7522 Silvergrove Rise NW

SATURDAY, APRIL 16th from 9:00 – 4:00 pm held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Crescent Road Chapel, 202 Crescent Road NW: Each registrant will participate in a masterclass with either Cenek Vrba or Rachel Christensen from the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. (Individual schedules to be announced following registration). For a special surprise, Denis Dufresne, our past fiddle specialist, returns to delight us with expertise on how to play the mandolin (the instruments will be provided!)

7:00 pm EVENING CONCERT: All the participants and their families are invited to dress in concert attire and return Saturday evening for a special recital featuring Cenek and accompanist Ariel Gonzalez. One of the highlights of the evening will be the opportunity for some of our advanced Teen Event registrants to join Cenek on stage with a movement of the Vivaldi, Four Seasons.

This event promises to be both rewarding and motivating. We hope all teen members of CSSA will catch the vision and join us for an inspiring weekend. Questions regarding the event can be directed to Marilyn Bennion by email bennionb@shaw.ca or by phone at 239-8467.

CSSA’s Teen Event is for member students aged 12 and older.
